For the Rest of the Year II

how/when will you be finished with this, what will the end product look like, and what will you be presenting during dead/finals weeks?

  • first, I'm not going to see an end product with this game creation because it's going to consume a lot of time, I suppose.
    • we're still in the developmental range
  • planning is still in the process
  • Presenting? I think I'll present a video of all the sketches I've done (I think I might need permission to do this)

What I've Done...

  • What you've done so far;
  • What you still need to accomplish in the two weeks we have left;
  • How your work will benefit you and others.
I've been drawing/sketching out some characters for Ian May's on going project. I recently became a new member. Hopefully I'll be able to help them out, only if it's a little bit.

I still need to develop the characters and make them perfect. Each and every character has different qualities and I need to embrace their personalities in the facial expressions/ etc.

My work will benefit Ian's group because I'm doing character development. The characters in this 'game' are imperative for the story. There's no story without some sort of a formal character. These five characters are the guides for this game.

Today I learned...

Today I learned I'm pretty capable of getting a good essay grade after Dr. Preston handed back my essay. To my surprise, I did better than I thought it did. Only if I can write great qualities essays on the AP exam. Hope for the best. Perhaps it will balance out the meticulous MC questions that we all dread.

Plans: Two

I've decided to review some of the multiple choice section since those give me the most trouble. I'm not too particularily worried about the essay portion of the test.
The quote used for the journal topic is inspirational but it's hard to stick to. A person with low motivation surely wouldn't take the author's words into account. I certainly wouldn't. And I guess that is where I have to change my thinking before taking the AP test.

Geezuz, that timer on Preston's page surely did creep up on us.

3 Essay Questions for Macbeth

Cheesy essay questions, I know.

1. Explain the reasons for Macbeth's rise and fall of his 'king' career. How did this affect the story? (Use at least two literary techiniques to demonstrate your point).

2.  Write an essay in which you will explain the theme of "Macbeth" by Shakespeare. Make references to the play and also use at least three literary techniques.

3. Why is Macbeth considered to be both the protagonist and as well as the antagonist of the play? Support your claims with quotes/events.

Crunch Time-- it's time to go

I don't have much of a plan, honestly.
I'll probably, PROBABLY study.
For the obvious reason, of course. I don't want the $79 bucks to go to a waste.
I'm pretty sure those companies make a lot of money anyway.

Back to the topic::
I'll review some vocabulary words and analyze some poetry later on the day.

Doesn't sound like a much of a plan.

Macbeth Notes::Lecture from TODAY

 I wasn't really there for the lecture, maybe only the last five minutes.

The part that I was present for was the relationship between Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. At the beginning, the two were fair lovers but evil stirred up bewteen them and they both because savages. Oh, it sounds like William Goldings' Lord of the Flies when the stranded boys become savages after they commit evil deeds--hmm-  interesting.
Anyway, Lady Macbeth is fairly evil to her cowardly husband when she tells him to kill him.

That is the most I got out of the lecture.

Top Three Remixes

Some of them were ties--none of these are in particular order. Dania's was hilarious, Kelli's was neat and organized, Trevor's was creative.

A Thousand Splendid Suns

“A Thousand Splendid Suns recounts the experiences and emotions of two Afghani women, Mariam and Laila, whose lives become entangled with the history of recent wars in their country. Mostly bleak and heartrending, their story does offer the promise of hope and happiness in a land ravaged by warfare, gender conflicts, and poverty.

AP Test Write up

  • What was easy/expected?
  • What was difficult/unexpected?
  • What did you learn about the AP questions?
  • What did you learn about your own performance under pressure?
  • How will this experience influence your preparation for the actual exam?
By all means, the test was not easy. After the second prompt, I was particularily "brain-dead". The prompts were merely expected; they seemed to be so "AP" style questions so I mentally prepared my self. I learned that the AP questions are concise and want NO summaries of the plot. My performance under pressure isn't so bad, perhaps I'm quite used to it. It wasn't like a piano recital in front of other students-- nothing like that. It was a solo performance and to my best ability, I tried to subdue my mental exhaustion from taking over the rest of the test. I'm prepared for any test. Come at me.

Study Guide: The Great Expectation Part One

Study Guide Questions: Solved

Who was Charles Dickens?

I know teachers hate students using Wikipedia but since I don’t know Dickens personally myself, there’s no option.

Charles John Huffam Dickens: 7 February 1812 – 9 June 1870) was an English novelist, generally considered the greatest of the Victorian period. Dickens enjoyed a wider popularity and fame than had any previous author during his lifetime, and he remains popular,

The Great Expectation

The Great Expectation by Charles Dickens is a fictional story about a boy named Philip Pirrip who much rather be known as "Pip". The introduction is quite disheartening; Dickens presents a strong sense of death wandering around the old graveyard where Pip meets a threatening old man. According to Dickens' biography, he grew up miserably through his childhood and also parentless so his life similarly represents Pip's life. Assuming there will be a turn on the table, something of great expectation is bound to occur.

I fell in love with the simplistic perspective of the haiku-- it's amazing to see how long a poem would last and still be read today.

The Open Question::RESOLVED.

Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami is an extraordinary, one of a kind psychedelic novel that contains likeable and thought-provoking characters. Choosing between Mr. Hoshino, the truck driver, and Kafka Tamura, the protagonist, was a challenge to me who was more admirable. It saddens me to choose between these two characters of Murakami’s detailed and compelling novel.  In the end,

Big Question ABSTRACT

How do we study infinity?

There’s a difference between in the connotative definition of infinity from a mathematical perspective and a philosophical perspective. Infinity isn’t something vague or unapproachable, but rather something with a precise definition that lies in the core of modern mathematics. To philosophers, infinity’s hugeness beyond reach becomes paradoxical to a certain extent.

The study of infinity first was thought to be believed that Archimedes, an ancient Greek philosopher, thought of. It was then studied after by many scholars but one impacts our studies today and he was an Indian mathematician, Srinivasa Ramanujan, in the early 1900’s.

Study of infinity can be only theorized. when there’s infinitive amount of space, there’s infinite amount of possibilities. However, space is not considered to be infinity because there’s only so much of it and each inch is a space of a larger space. It’s just like infinity. There’s three degrees of infinity, each one gradually getting larger. If infinity is something we know goes on eternally, how can there be something that’s larger and more massive than eternity?
